Un nombre en una investigación. Una espiral doble. 

A name from a research. A double spiral.

Después de escribir Zem, nació Gingaria. La isla solitaria de la historia ganó dos vecinos: Fántida y el Gran Continente. Todo era muy diferente entonces. Zem se había casado con Selena (la antigua Aury) y tenían... siete hijos.

Gingaria was born after writing "Zem". The lonely island got two neighbors: Fántida and the Great Continent. Everything was so different back then. Zem was married with Selena (the old version of Aury) and they had... seven children.

El siguiente protagonista fue Queni, al que, como curiosidad, hizo un cameo en la ilustración del Torneo (es el que está sentado a la derecha, debajo de la enana). Gran parte de la historia tenía que ver con la espiral de Kylkos, el mago que se había sacrificado para que su amada viviera. 

Con la nueva versión de Zem, y la idea de una trilogía, ya no había sitio para Queni y la espiral doble cayó en el olvido. Hasta que...

The next main character was Queni, who appeared in Zem's illustration of the Tournament (he's the one sitting on the left, under the Duarn lady). The spiral of Kylkos was a pivotal part of the story. He had been a wizard who sacrificed himself so his loved one could live.

With Zem's new version and the idea of writing a trilogy, Queni lost his place and the double spiral was forgotten. Until...

Supe que quería hacer una historia para un grupo así, un montón de amigos pelirrojos envueltos en pieles. El nombre de Kylkos volvió entonces para el protagonista y se fue desarrollando una sociedad de elfos del norte. Sin embargo, la historia no aparecía...

I knew I wanted to write a story for such a group of redheaded friends with fur cloaks. Kylko's name came back for the main character and I developed a society of Northern elves. However, I wasn't able to find the story...

Eurovisión 2019. A veces, escucho una canción y sé que hay algo más allá, que si la escucho atentamente, puedo encontrar la historia que esconde. Bastó con volver a oír Spirit in the Sky con los ojos cerrados para conocer al fin a Kylkos, Iokari y a una voz desconocida que terminó siendo Hamdat.

Eurovision 2019. Sometimes, I hear a song and Ifeel there's something more, that if I listen to it closely I could find the story within. I just had to listen to "Spirit in the Sky" one more time and with my eyes closed to finally meet Kylkos, Iokari and the stranger's voice that ended up being Hamdat.

Ignoro la razón por la que decidí darle a Iokari tantas cicatrices. Quizás porque yo misma tengo bastantes y, en ese momento, me encontraba enferma de apendicitis crónica, lo que sabía que se iba a saldar con... más cicatrices. Me pareció una imagen potente, inolvidable y misteriosa. 

I don't know why I decided to give Iokari all those scars. Maybe because I have lots of them and, at that moment, I was suffering from chronic appendicitis, so I knew I was going to get... even more scars. It seemed a strong image, unforgettable and mysterious.

El mundo de Kylkos se fue ampliando y definiendo. Iokari recibió todo un guardarropa y cambios de peinado y decidí inspirarme en el tercer componente de KEiiNO para el tercer personaje principal, Hamdat. Aunque no iba a existir al principio, ahora es imposible concebir la historia sin él.

Kylkos' world got bigger and more defined. Iokari got a whole wardrobe and hairstyle changes and I decided to take inspiration from the third component of KEiiNO to create the third main character, Hamdat. Even though he wasn't going to exist from the beginning, now the story would be nothing without him. 

Escribir Kylkos fue una odisea. Llegué a estar gravemente enferma, con la energía justa para levantarme de la cama y no hacer nada más en todo el día. Creo que mi empeoramiento se puede ver reflejado en los capítulos más oscuros y pesimistas, con un notable cambio de tono una vez me curé. Estoy muy orgullosa de haber seguido escribiendo y de lo que he conseguido en esta historia.

Writing Kylkos was not an easy task. I ended up really ill, with just enough energy to get out of bed and do nothing else for the rest of the day. I'm sure you can see how my health is getting worse in the darkest and more pessimistic chapters. And the tone changes a lot once I'm cured. I'm so proud of myself because I kept on writing and managed to do a lot with this story.

Pero, ¿qué fue de Queni? ¿Realmente no había nada que se pudiera aprovechar de su historia? La verdad es que sí, pero sería entrar en territorio de spoilers. Lo único que puedo decir es que no será Queni el que cuente la historia esta vez, sino una niña de Kapetria que hará un gran descubrimiento... pero eso es otra Historia.

But, what happened to Queni? Can't his story be used at all? Actually, yes, but that would be a spoiler. I can only say Queni won't be the one telling the story this time, but a little girl from Kapetria who will make a great discovery... but that's another Legend.
